Faux Real.

I am the first to admit that my tastes are more expensive than I can afford. It’s a weight that many of us carry on our shoulders. Do I want a Louis Vuitton duffel bag? Of course I do, but I also need to Netflix so I can watch old seasons of Gossip Girl and Dawson’s Creek. We all make sacrifices.

However, something that I find unforgivable is when people cover themselves in fake designer crap. We get it, you can’t afford Coach. That doesn’t mean it’s okay to wear Goach sunglasses, scarves and bags. When you cover yourself in fake designer items, it just makes you look like you look even poorer than simply buying a cute bag from Target. You aren’t fooling anybody. Like Dolly Parton in Steel Magnolias, I can spot a fake from twenty paces.

Now this being said, I do have a few designer bags. I love them. They are my babies. I didn’t pay for them. I asked for these as gifts from the people in my life, who I know can afford them. That’s how it’s done. College graduation, Louis Vuitton bag. Christmas 2007, Marc by Marc Jacobs bag.

Also just because its designer, doesn’t mean it has to be full price. I bought an awesome Tory Burch wallet a few years ago for $60. Guess what it didn’t have a sign on it that said, “She got this on the cheap!” And most people were excited to hear about the deal I got on it. Most designers have outlets now. I highly recommend Kate Spade’s outlet, as well as Tory’s. It’s still high quality merchandise but they are always running discounts.

The point that I am trying to make here is that, I get it. I wish I had the money to have designer accessories all day every day, but I don’t and either do you and that’s okay. Save your money for the item that you want, it will be worth it and mean more to you. Or ask your rich relatives. Just don’t go faux. Your worth more than faux, for real.
